LOTD for September 3

A cluster of new skyscrapers under construction in London apparently melted a Jaguar.  The skyscraper's developers said that they were looking to prevent this from happening in the future--they blamed the position of the sun at certain times of the day...but it isn't like the sun is some new thing that they weren't aware of!

Hackers showed that they can slam a car's brakes at freeway speeds, jerk the steering wheel, and shut down the engine via their laptops. Cars and trucks have between 20 to 70 computers and can be controlled via cellphone and Bluetooth connections, CD player, and even the tire pressure monitoring system:

Suspicious bird was detained in Egypt--police found a small electronic device attached to one of its legs and thought it could be used for spying, but it turns out that the device was a wildlife tracker used by French scientists to follow the movement of migrating birds:
