A leading Chechen Islamic rebel issued a call to Islamist militants to begin and plan for attacks to disrupt the February 2014 Winter Olympics being held in Sochi (Russia).  Security experts said that preventing terrorism in the Winter Olympics will be difficult because violent Islamic insurgency has been on-going across the mountains overlooking Sochi:

The free trade pact between the US and 11 Asia-Pacific nations is supposed to protect IP rights, but health activists warn that it will prevent affordable medicines to get to developing nations.  The agreement could basically end generic medicines:

Samsung paid a reported $30 mil (less than investors put into it) to buy TV startup Boxee.  It looks like Samsung will integrate Boxee's cloud DVR (that allows unlimited recording of broadcast TV shows, streaming recordings to the DVR, PCs, and mobile devices) into its smart TV platform:

Apple isn't happy that 80% of iPhones are sold outside of Apple stores, so they are looking at providing incentives (such as $50 gift cards) to people buying their iPhones from Apple stores.  Apple's CEO said that the iPhone is important to get customers into Apple Stores so they can buy iPads and Macs:

18-year-old Montreal girl is lucky to be alive after she tried to kiss a lion when it was in its cage in the zoo.  She suffered severe flesh wounds after the male lion dragged her feet and legs into the enclosure:
