This is the last LOTD for a week. I apologize for the hiatus but I'll be out of the country.
The Inspector General of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) informed lawmakers that the 2011 security check on Edward Snowden's background may have been faulty. Later in 2011, OPM investigated the contractor that did Snowden's background check for contract fraud. The Inspector General reported that 18 investigators and record searchers have been *convicted* for falsifying background investigatino reports...doing things like writing about interviews they didn't even do and making up answers to questions that they never asked:

I think that it is really cool to see this video of a 3-year-old boy who is the first child in the country to receive a special implant...the video shows the boy being able to hear his father speak for the first time:

The FAA is expected to allow people to leave their electronics on during takeoff and landing...partially because people already leave their electronics on when the plane is below 10,000 feet. Talking on the phone will still be banned, but devices can be left on and used:
