For the first time ever, an ONR-funded program enabled a laser system mounted on a ship to zap a motorboat a mile away as both ships were moving. The video at the link clearly shows that the targeted ship was dead in the water within seconds, with both engine catching fire. The laser system had been tested on land before, but now ONR has proven that it can be used on ships:

It has been thought that asteroids were blobs of rock and space dust stuck together, but analysis of a meteorite provides strong evidence that the asteroid was large enough to have a *molten core*. So, even if the surface is cold and solid, the asteroid could have a molten core like the Earth:

Article about the "gendercide" happening in China, India and other countries. India has only 914 girls aged six and under for every 1,000 boys, with families choosing to abort female fetuses because they feel they must have sons but they also want smaller families. China's ratio is even worse, with 121 boys born for every 100 girls. Armenia and Azebejian are at 117 boys for every 100 girls. Studies have found that crime rises significantly when a country has more single men, with the boy/girl imbalance credited for 1/7 of the increase in crime in China (with stories of bride abduction, trafficking of women, etc.):

Mom in the Westchester, NY area was arrested after she left her 13-year-old daughter alone for a *week* when she took a trip to Taiwan. The Mom told police that she left her 13-year-old with plenty of cash, credit cards, and prepared meals...but they charged her with misdemeanor child endangerment anyway. After the girl had been home alone for 2 days, a friend found out and that boy's Mom took the girl in and Child Protective Services were called:
