I didn't realize just how much of a boost San Diego got from the Carnival Cruise ship that had to be towed to San Diego.  San Diego was on worldwide news on a beautiful day with the media and passengers saying nice things about San Diego.  All 1,200 passengers stayed in San Diego hotels and 80 buses were chartered to drive the passengers back to Long Beach.  Most importantly, most of the 1,167 crew members are staying in San Diego and getting meal stipends from Carnival (San Diego restaurants must love that during a normally slow time for tourism!) until they figure out how long it will take to repair the cruise ship:
