Chinese officials say that they have found a way to make the uninhabitable deserts in west China usable--they will pump raw sea water thousands of miles from the coast to fill up dried-up salt lakes and desert basins, hoping that it will evaporate and result in rainfall over drought-stricken areas of northern and northwestern China.  Water experts have condemned China's plan, saying that is is more the product of propaganda than serious science and that it is not practical and makes no economic sense:

The University of New Mexico (UNM)'s technology-licensing arm filed a complaint in U.S. federal court Monday (Nov. 15) alleging that Intel Corp. is infringing on a university-held patent covering double patterning lithography technology.

In June, the university's technology-licensing entity, UNM.STC, filed similar complaints against Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC) and Samsung Electronics Co.
