There is a growing concern that there are THOUSANDS of pipes in the US just like that resulted in the San Bruno explosion/fire. Thousands of gas pipes in the US are more than 50 years old, past the life expectancy for steel pipes and are in densely populated areas. So, we are literally living around time bombs:
