LOTD for October 1

It is nice that the US Treasury has already made a $16.4 billion profit on the shares it got of Citigroup when it guaranteed a pool of Citi's assets.  The government ended up not having to make *any* payments on the guarantee and still owns 12.4% of Citi that it can sell for future profits:

More than 60 people have been charged for using a computer virus to steal millions from bank accounts throughout the US.  The malware used is sent via e-mail and records keystrokes of users as they log in to online bank accounts.  About $4 million was stolen in the US and more than $9 million was stolen in England.  It is crazy that hackers can buy crimeware kits for things like this for as little as $700:

Microsoft sued Motorola and brought a complaint before the ITC, alleging that Motorola's Android phones infringes on their smartphone patents.  Microsoft has been telling smartphone manufacturers that they should choose Windows Phone 7 instead of Android because of IP issues and related costs if they go with Android...this lawsuit may benefit Windows Phone 7 if they can convince companies to make Windows Phone 7 phones instead of Android phones:
