Start-up company developed a tracking chip based on UWB 802.14.4a that is supposed to be smaller, cheaper ($5), and more accurate than RFID, WiFi, and other technology options.  It can be integrated into a cell phone or small wearable device and get location information within 10 *cm*, which would be great for tracking soldiers on the battlefield or firefighters in a burning building.  It uses so little power that a watch battery can power it for 10 years:

Lockheed has completed its robotic mule, which can serve as a network node for soldiers to communicate to and charge up to 146 batteries to keep several platoons supplied with batteries:

Scientists developed real-time facial recognition software for mobile phones that will soon be able to tell who the user is, where they are looking, and even how they are feeling!  Facial recognition could eventually replace passwords and PIN numbers for security from a mobile phone:

Google exec says that buying Android was their best deal they ever made.  They bought Android for an estimated $50 million...Ad revenue from Android devices makes Google $1 billion per year and is expected to grow to $10 billion per year.  The Google Exec talked about how he saw Andy Rubin in his building for 2 years walking his dog and he hoped that Rubin would be able to do something with his startup...and Rubin is still running Android for Google today:
