Pike Research says that algae biofuel production will grow rapidly over the next decade, reaching 61 million gallons per year and a market value of $1.3 billion by 2020. Algae biofuels use non food-based feedstock, can grow in non-arable land, utilize wastewater and seawater, and yield up to 20x more oil per acre than oilseed crops. On paper, algae could replace worldwide petroleum use altogether! It is nice to hear that the US has 50% of all algae activity and will ramp up production before all other markets:

JD Powers projects that in 2020 just 20 million of the 1.2 billion passenger cars on the road will be hybrid cars and just 4 million will be electric cars:

Qualcomm is looking to sell its wireless broadband business in India--Qualcomm paid $1 billion less than 5 months ago and is looking for about $1.1 billion now. After fees and everything else, Qualcomm might break even or lose a little money...but the important thing to them is that any company that buys their spectrum in India will have to use Qualcomm's TD-LTE instead of WiMAX. India is considered the last big opportunity for WiMAX and the winners of the broadband spectrum so far haven't chosen between WiMAX and LTE:

This has a nice summary of Verizon's 3G data plans and pricing info--the new plans start tomorrow, but people can stick with their current plans if they wish. Verizon is even providing a comparison between their plans and AT&T's data plans:
