Single-person rocket will soon have its first launch into space.  The astronaut will snugly fit into the capsule standing up and the tiny rocket will not let the astronaut move around.  It is nice that the astronaut will be able to see the space transition and that the launches can be done so cheaply since the rocket is so tiny--and that the g forces the astronaut will face are less than many roller coasters:

xG Technology is searching for a market for its cognitive radio network.  They have interesting technology that enables their radios to detect interference in real time and move from channel to channel 33 times a second--instead of looking at the frequency domain for interference, they sense the time domain to reduce the interference effect further and expand the usability of spectrum:

FDA officials found salmonella in chicken feed that was used by the 2 Iowa farms that produced the eggs that were linked to salmonella poisoning in several states.  More than 550 million eggs from the 2 farms were recalled this month and the farms are still producing millions of eggs each day (they are being pasteurized):

Gmail users can now call phones in the US and Canada for *free* right from their e-mail, with international calls as little as 2 cents per minute.  I noticed this feature yesterday and had no idea what it was.

A web startup is working to build a national directory of cell phone numbers, already acquiring 2.4 for its database.  You have to contact them if you do not want your cell phone number listed:

A high school in Allen, TX is building a new 18,000-seat football stadium for $60 million...that will only tie it for the 5th biggest high school stadium in Texas:
