The three Nexus One smartphones that NASA put into orbit sent pictures of Earth back to Earth on a ham radio frequency, with each packet having a small piece of "the big picture." The PhoneSat Team and ham radio operators put the packets together to creat a high-resolution photo of Earth. The mission had just been to prove that commercial devices could be used as satellites, but the resulting photo is pretty cool:

Israel bombed Syria for the second time in 3 days, with their warplanes hitting areas inside and around the capital of Syria and setting off a series of explosions. Israel reportedly targeted a shipment of highly accurate guided missiles on their way to Hexbollah in Lebanon. Syria's government says that was a "declaration of war" by Israel and Syria vowed to retaliate:
