LOTD for May 31

Wooly mammoths were thought to have died out around 10,000 years ago, but a perfectly preserved carcass (because it was stuck in pure ice) with liquid blood has been found on a remote Arctic island.  This could enable scientists to clone the mammmoth:

Tesla is building fast-charging stations in the US and Canada about twice as fast as announced, getting to around 100 stations in the coming year.  This will enable Tesla owners to drive from LA to New York later this year, using the "supercharger" network.  The charging network allows batteries to charge to 50% capacity in 20-30 minutes:

Analysts say that Softbank could give up on buying Sprint after Dish made their bid for Clearwire.  Buying Sprint isn't worth it to Softbank without Clearwire, but owning Sprint while Dish is an unhappy owner of a significant portion of Clearwire isn't exactly appealing to Softbank:

Google expects to make money on Google Fiber, even while dramatically reducing costs to the consumer and increasing datarates significantly.  It is interesting that Google doesn't ask for money from governments to subsidize the cost of their network and they don't ask for tax breaks (other internet providers have made this a common practice),instead asking for cities to partner with them to enable the network to be built quicker (which saves money):

Android tablet sales are expected to pass iPad sales soon, due to lower costs and consumer adoption of the smaller screen sized tablets.  iPad minis are expected to be the dominant iPad selling model of the future, reducing Apple's profit margin per tablet:

More than 30% of graduating seniors from Harvard admit that they cheated on a homework assignment while at Harvard, but they think that 53% of their classmates have cheated on homework.  52% of male students at Harvard watch online porn at least once per week while just 6% of female students did so.  14% of male students and 63% of female students never watched porn at all.  13% of Harvard students had sex in the main school library:
