LOTD for May 13

Samsung announced that they successfully developed the world's first adaptive array transciever technology in the Ka band for 5G cellular communications.   The 28GHz communication supports 1.056Gbps to a distance of up to 2km using 64 antennas.  They are looking to have commercial deployment of 5G technology by 2020:

Two hackers claim that they can boost HSPA+ data speeds on iPhone 5s used on T-Mobile's PCS network.  T-Mobile's recent software update resulted in much slower HSPA+ data speeds...it turns out that just changing the settings results in 3Mbps to 8Mbps faster data rates:

Last month Facebook, AT&T and HTC had a hyped press conference to announced the first "Facebook Phone", priced at just $99...but less than 15,000 units were sold even though they dropped the price to just 99 cents!  They are not even going to give the phones away for free, they are sending them back to HTC:
