DARPA is funding a 4-year project to use "probabilistic programming" to build machines that are intelligent enough to teach themselves, and to make it easy for ordinary people to build these types of machines:

Report says that the DoD is about to buy *650,000* iOS devices--210,000 iPhones, 120,000 iPads, 100,000 iPad Minis, and 200,000 iTouch devices. The report says that the DoD has 470,000 BlackBerry devices that are not compatible with the new BlackBerry 10 release and that the DoD plans to move to the iOS platform after the sequester is over and they can purchase replacement devices:

Scotland is considering a bill that would allow Jedis to perform marriage ceremonies. The Jedi religion is popular in some parts of Europe (175,000 people in the UK listed themselves as Jedi in the 2012 census) and members of the Jedi Knights Society would have the right to perform marriage ceremonies if the bill passes:
