LOTD for January 15

The Navy is spending $670 mil each for 55 Littoral Combat Ships...but they have a LOT of problems.  The Navy found that the ships are *not* expected to be able to survive in a hostile combat situation since it has problems taking damage.  The guns on the ship are unreliable and apparently can't hit their targets and the radar cannot track targets!  The good news is that the Littoral ships also have a mission to hunt mines...however, the ships cannot hunt mines either.  So, these $670 mil ships cannot be used in combat, cannot survive damage, cannot aim their guns, cannot track their targets, and cannot hunt mines...and these are the ships of the Navy's future?

Analysts said that the reports about Apple cutting iPhone 5 parts orders may be flawed, and they say that iPhone 5 sales are strong:

Sprint and Nokia seem to be ignoring each other for Nokia's Windows Phone 8 smartphone.  Nokia is working with the other wireless carriers and Sprint is releasing Windows Phone 8 devices from HTC and Samsung, but both companies aren't saying anything about working with each other yet:
