NONE of the more than $1 bil that the Red Cross has collected after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan has been distributed directly to victims. The Red Cross takes time to assess damages to figure out how to distribute its fund equally, while donations to other nonprofit groups often get spent immediately to buy necessary things like underwear and supplies for evacuees. There also has been no progress in stopping the leak of radioactive water into the sea:

Japan is dealing complex legal, financial, logistical, environmental, and ethical questions about how to eal with at least 80 million tons of debris from the earthquake/tsunami:

Southwest Airlines grounded 79 of its 737 aircraft after an incident where a hole tore in the fuselage of a plane and depressurized the cabin. Southwest canceled 300 flights so that Boeing engineers could help conduct emergency inspections. This concerns me since I'm going to be booking my flight today to fly on Southwest in 2 weeks:
