Sumitomo has developed a rechargeable battery that can cost about *10%* of what lithium batteries cost. Their molten-salt batteries should be available commercially around 2015 and will be a very attractive alternative to lithium batteries used in cars and homes. Their batteries are cheaper because sodium is cheaper than lithium because sodium is cheap and widely available:

Tropos teamed with IT company Four Points Technology to target the Federal Market, in particular WiFi for military bases:

Metrico found that the AT&T iPhone had about twice the data download rate than the Verizon iPhone, but web pages for the iPhone loaded at the same speed on both networks. The AT&T iPhone finished 10% more download sessions in a moving vehicle and the Verizon iPhone had a 10% better success rate in uploading data when the iPhones were stationary. Even though in general Verizon has been notably better than AT&T in voice quality in other tests, they didn't compare the voice quality between the two phones. Instead, they found that the AT&T iPhone was about average in call performance for AT&T smartphones (which would put it below average for Verizon) and the Verizon iPhone surprisingly was "near the top" in voice quality for Verizon smartphones (probably because of the new dual antenna upgrade that the Verizon iPhone has):
