AT&T is buying T-Mobile for $25 bil in cash and $14 bil in stock!  So much for those T-Mobile/Sprint merger rumors.  This makes sense to me because T-Mobile and Sprint use incompatible standards but both T-Mobile and AT&T use GSM/HSPA+ and have road maps to LTE:
