LOTD for February 7

The Air Force Material Command informed all members of the Air Force that they can be prosecuted for dereliction of duty and espionage if they read WikiLeaks.  The Air Force has also ruled that any spouse, child, parent, or other relative of someone in the Air Force can be prosecuted for espionage if they read WikiLeaks!

Human clinical trials that began in 2008 have reported successful results for a universal flu vaccine!  This would save the billions spent every year to create vaccines for whatever flu strains are expected that year.  The UK government alone spent almost $2 bil/year to prepare for the swine flu outbreak, and between 250,000 and 500,000 people die from the flu in a typical year:

Study found that more than half of all iPhone apps could track users and collect data without an individual's knowledge. Researchers even found apps that violated privacy rights by getting the location of the iPhone without informing the users, and other apps that took data from the user's address book without getting permission from the user!

T-Mobile is apparently close to a deal to buy spectrum from Clearwire, Clearwire has warned investors that it could run out of money by the middle of this year, but *none* of Clearwire's investors stepped up to add to their investments.  T-Mobile is the only company bidding on the spectrum that Clearwire needs to sell to stay afloat...so, I'm guessing T-Mobile will get a sweet deal on that spectrum:

Study found that 32% of people admit to leeching off of someone else's WiFi network, up from just 18% of people a little over 2 years ago.  40% of people said that giving out their WiFi password requires more trust than giving out a key to their house!  47% of people checked their e-mail before going to bed while only 40% kiss their spouse or significant other good night and just 29% read a book before going to sleep:
