LOTD for January 7

It appears that the big event announcing the Verizon iPhone will be on Tuesday.  So, yesterday Verizon unveiled 10 LTE devices at CES and on Tuesday they will show off the Verizon iPhone.  One important thing to note is that the Verizon iPhone will *not* have LTE, so the Motorola/LG/Samsung/HTC Android LTE phones announced at CES will have that speed advantage:

Verizon released a list of the cities they will be adding to their LTE coverage network this year--this is in addition to the host of cities (such as San Diego) that already have LTE through Verizon.  Oahu and Maui are listed, plus a number of the decent-sized markets that they missed in the first LTE phase:

T-Mobile said that its HSPA+ 42 upgrade that will double its theoretical peak speeds to 42 Mbps will match Verizon's LTE speeds.  Their CTO said that in testing they found that HSPA+ 42 and Verizon's LTE both averaged download speeds of around 8 Mbps:

This article predicts that the Chrome OS netbooks from Acer and Samsung will cost just $50!  They will have WiFi and 100 MB of free 3G data each month from Verizon.  *Google* will apparently be subsidizing the netbooks since the netbooks will be locked to Google search:
