Suicide bomber planning a terrorist attack in Moscow on New Year's Eve was killed when her cell phone company sent her a spam text wishing her a Happy New Year. So, instead of killing a host of people and creating a high-profile attack, she ended up being the only person killed...because of a spam text!

Bamboo is grown in many regions of Africa and a test run of 750 bikes made from bamboo will be made, with large-scale production soon to follow. The bamboo bikes are lighter and stronger than steel-framed bikes, adapt to difficult road conditions, and can easily be modified for different needs. Manufacturing of bamboo bikes do not require costly infrastructure or electricity, so it could be an ideal product to be made in Africa for their needs:

The Obama Administration told the FCC that they should give the D Block of the 700 MHz band director to public-safety groups, instead of auctioning the spectrum like the FCC plans.  First-responder organizations and AT&T and Verizon support giving the D Block to public-safety, but Sprint, T-Mobile and some small carriers want the FCC to auction the spectrum (since they want 700 MHz frequency for LTE I'm guessing):

Time Warner resells Clearwire's WiMAX service but says that the WiMAX business is not impressive so far.  They have a total of 15,000 WiMAX customers.  Time Warner lost $20 mil last quarter on their WiMAX business and a total of $50 mil last year on WiMAX:
