Japanese reporter had been kidnapped for the past 5 months in Afghanistan, but when his captors got a new cell phone and wanted him to show them how to access the internet, he bravely sent 2 twitter messages to let the world know he was still alive and to give his location!  He was released the very next day and amazingly wants to leave Japan to go back to Afghanistan as a reporter again:
