Techcrunch claims to have proof that Verizon will have the iPhone in January--they say that Apple has submitted orders for *millions* of units of *Qualcomm CDMA chipsets* for a Verizon iPhone run due in December.  I've heard so many of these rumors that I don't believe them anymore...but if the news is verified that Qualcomm chipsets have been ordered by Apple, everyone will probably know in a month or two:

The 15 winning apps in the "Apps for Army" competition included 10 Android Apps and 5 iPhone apps.  Other service branches are looking into having similar apps competitions and the Army officer in charge of this competition said that the Army is considering getting iPhones and Android devices into the hands of deployed soldiers as soon as next year.  This could have widespread implications for military operations and programs such as JTRS:
