Your friends on Facebook can determine if you get approved for a loan--one financial company has found that there is a link between creditworthiness and social connections, so if you are Facebook friends with someone who was late paying back a loan then your credit score is docked.  If you frequently interact with that delinquent person, you are then considered a credit risk:

Woman in West Virginia came home from visiting her best friend in the hospital and discovered that a repo company took all of her things!  Her living room furniture, her college and high school diplomas, her pictures, her teacher of the year award, everything!  The repo company was told to remove everything from the house at a certain address, but they were giving the wrong city so that unlucky woman lost all of her things for nothing!  When she started to straighten things out she discovered that all her things were taken to the dump and were lost forever...
