LOTD for May 17

After spending $200 mil and horribly mismanaging the program (just my opinion, but Wired seems to agree), DARPA cancelled their formation-flying satellite program.  That really is too bad, I know people that worked on the early stages of that program:

Intel's CEO regrets that they missed being in the iPhone, saying that Intel's world would have been different if they hadn't messed up the iPhone deal.  Apple wanted to pay a certain price for an Intel chip for the iPhone and Intel passed on the deal because that price was below Intel's forecasted cost, with their forecasts saying that no volume of sales could have made up on the price.  It turns out that Intel was *wrong* on the forecasted cost and the volume was 100x more than they expected:

Samsung expects to have the Galaxy S4 pass the 10 million units sold mark next week, which would be twice as fast as the Galaxy S3.  It should be noted that the Galaxy S3 wasn't available in the US when it first launched and the Galaxy S4 is including sales on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, so this isn't a completely fair comparison.  Still selling 10 million S4s in less than a month when it isn't even available on Verizon yet is impressive:

Verizon boosted their data allotment for their prepaid plans, dropping the price for unlimited text/voice with 2GB of data from $70/month to $60/month:

Vince Young has some amazing highs (National Championship in the best college football game I ever saw, NFL Rookie of the Year) and quite a number of lows after college...but I think that he set a great example for other atheltes by getting his degree from Texas.  I also like how he told his classmates to stop disrupting class for autographs and photos because that was not respectful to their professor so he would stay after class for to sign things and take photos.  I still cannot imagine how my wife slept through that national championship game...

Tampa woman dropped her purse at Starbucks...and her gun accidentally went off and shot her friend who was standing behind her.  She does not have a concealed weapons permit:
