LOTD for April 3

Stores ask for our ZIP code because that information combined with our name can be used to find out information about us from commercial databases, like our full mailing address.  Stores can then sell the information to data brokers, who sell it to other marketers.  This results in catalogs and junk mail:

Russia is selling 4 new submarines for $2 bil, 2 built in Russia and 2 built in China.  Russia inserted a contract provision that "China cannot copy Russian technology"...but given China's history and given that 2 subs will be made in China, I'm not sure how seriously Russia expects China to heed that request:

Goldman Sachs dropped Apple from their list of most highly recommended stocks.  Apple's stock was at $427.90 this afternoon, well off their peak of $705.07 in September:

Apple is reportedly planning to launch their next iPhone this summer instead of waiting until the Fall like they have for each of their previous iPhone versions.  Apple may not want to wait because they are under pressure to boost their revenues.  One complication is that Apple is reportedly behind schedule for their next version of their iOS mobile operating system--Apple has apparently pulled engineers from their Mac OS team to work on their mobile OS:
