LOTD for April 17

Provo, Utah is the next city to get Google Fiber.  I wish they would choose San Diego soon...cheap gigabit internet service would be awesome.  I didn't realize that Google provides gigabit internet service for *free* to all schools, libraries, and other public institutions:

Facebook has been hiring quite a number of Apple employees for their mobile team and just hired the man who was in charge of Apple Maps:

Microsoft is reportedly considering giving users an option to bypass the Windows 8 user interface and get the Start button and menu back from previous Windows versions.  This would be offered as an option in the next Windows version...and make Windows 9 a lot like Windows 7:

Microsoft got Hon Hai to sign a patent license agreement for all Android and Chrome devices Hon Hai makes...which is significant because Foxconn (Hon Hai is the parent company of Foxconn) makes more than 40% of the world's consumer electronics. This is the 20th licensing deal that Microsoft got Android manufacturers to sign:

Michigan judge has an order posted in his courtroom that any electronic devices that cause a disturbance will result in the owner found to be in comtempt of court.  Last week the *judge's* cell phone rang in his courtroom...so, the judge fined himself:
