LOTD for March 4

Female students in Liberia and Universities in other African countries are protesting how they are expected to have sex with their male lecturers to get good grades or pass their classes.  This is called "transactional sex" or "Sex 101" and a 2010 study found that 60 million girls and young women were sexually assaulted at, or on their way to and from, their place of study:

Scientists report the first cure of a child born with HIV.  330,000 children around the world get infected with HIV at or around birth every year, most in Africa.  Until now, those children were considered permanently infected, needing antiviral drugs for their entire life.  However, the child's doctor began treating her wit antivirals within 31 hours of birth, faster than most infants are treated.  The doctor also used "therapeutic" doses of HIV drugs rather than the lower "prophylactic" doses usually given:

People who purposely defaulted on their home loans because their homes had declined in value too much during the housing collapse now want to buy a home again since the housing market is healthy again.  There is some controversy because of how they chose to walk away from their previous houses, but that default isn't hurting them as much as it normally would due to the housing market conditions back then:

4-year-old Colorado boy fell out of a 3rd story window, did 2 somersaults in the air, and landed on his feet...the screen he fell through had more damage than he did!  The boy was hospitalized for 20 hours, wearing a neck brace as a precaution, but was released basically without any damage:
