The Pentagon finally recognized that women already fight in combat (that has been obvious for pilots and some others) and are now finalizing the end of the ban on women in direct combat:

DARPA thinks that the US can save a lot of money by scavenging dead communications satellites for their valuable parts and using those parts to build cheap new satellites. DARPA is funding $180 mil of work to test technologies toward this goal:

NIH scientists have agreed to retire all but 50 chimps used for federally funded research--the 300 or so chimps will be sent from labs into a national sanctuary:

Interesting article goes into the history of Siri. I didn't realize that Verizon had signed a deal to make Siri a default app on all Android smartphones on Verizon's network...but Apple bought Siri a few months later and made it exclusive to Apple. Verizon had already made commercials advertising how Siri was their exclusive Android add-on before Apple's acquisition:
