The first demonstration has been held of an autonomous helicopter flying at low altitudes while avoiding obstacles, evaluating and selecting suitable landing sites in unmapped terrain, and land safely a self-generated approach path:

An anonymous group is circulating a detailed list of 1,300 alleged illegal immigrants in Utah--they include highly detailed personal information such as Social Security numbers, birth dates, workplaces, addresses, phone numbers, names of children, and due dates of pregnant women!

Scientists are reporting early signs that the Gulf oil spill is altering the marine food web by killing or tainting some creatures and spurring the growth of others more suited to a polluted environment. If these alterations continue, scientists warn that the multibillion-dollar Gulf fishing industry could be in jeopardy:

Even though this is being called the "summer of the smartphone shortage", Motorola and Verizon think that they will be able to handle the demand for the Droid X when it gets released tomorrow:

Motorola is happy with their big bet on Android. Just 2 years ago, Motorola was creating phones for *17* platforms and they had lost $5 billion over 3 years...they then decided to put all of their eggs in the Android basket and they are happy with the risk that they took:

Article about how Android (even the latest version, 2.2) is not appropriate for business accounts because it only supports unsecured Exchange accounts...a big problem if it is to be used for corporate e-mail:

A major betting service in Ireland is taking bets over whether or not the iPhone 4 will be recalled some time this year. They first had the odds at a 60% chance of recall and the odds have slowly drifted downwards to 50% when people started betting heavily against the recall. I don't think that there is any chance that Apple will issue a recall of all the iPhone 4 devices and think that 60% initial odds was way, way too high:

George Steinbrenner's death after the federal estate tax expired saved his wife and 4 children about half a billion dollars! If he had died in 2009, his family would have owed about $500 million and if he died in 2011, the tax bill would have been $600 million...but because he died in 2010, his estate tax is zero!
