It is estimated that 10% (40 members) of the House of Representatives sleep in their offices, but no Senators are believed to do so. The Senate has business from Monday through Friday, but the House often just has votes scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday--so, some Representatives say that it is "stupid" to pay $1,000 or so in rent for 8 nights in a Washington apartment each month:
